The Sixth-Year Certificate Program in Educational Leadership is designed to prepare aspiring school leaders from diverse backgrounds who will effectively lead within the PreK-12 educational setting.

Upon successful completion of the Sixth-Year Certificate Program, students are eligible for the Initial Educator Certification for Intermediate Administration or Supervision (092) in the state of Connecticut.

Note: Through the process of reciprocity, 092 certificate holders in the state of Connecticut may be eligible for equivalent licensure in other U.S. states. Learn more at .

In order to be recommended by the university for 092 Intermediate Administrator Certification, candidates must have successfully completed the Sixth Year Certificate program; have worked as a certified educator for a minimum of five school years (50 months); and have passed the Connecticut Administrator Test (test number 6412), which ETS administers as part of its School Leadership Series of Praxis tests.

Our 30-credit program was specifically designed for full-time working educators and employs a cohort model. That is, courses are held back-to-back, one evening per week. Summer classes meet entirely online. Candidates proceed through our program with a group of aspiring school leaders (cohort). In addition to our cohorts that meet on campus, we have numerous cohorts that meet off-campus throughout the state of Connecticut.

Program faculty have extensive expertise and experience in the field of Educational Leadership. We work to bridge theory and practice so that program courses are meaningful for candidates and applicable to their work as educators.
